Te Ārahi Katoa ki Akash Network

A clear guide to the decentralized cloud computing marketplace: how the reverse auction works, how to deploy your first workload, how to stake AKT and how to rent GPUs for AI.

He aha te Akash Network?

He mākete korekore, pūtake-wātea, mō ngā rauemi rorohiko kapua, i hangaia hei wero i te rangatiratanga o ngā kaiwhakarato pūmau.

Akash Network is a decentralized cloud computing marketplace. It connects people who need computing resources (tenants) with those who have spare capacity (providers). The chain is built with the Cosmos SDK and secured by Tendermint consensus, so anyone can buy and sell computing power without an intermediary.

Often called the "Airbnb of cloud computing," Akash lets data centers, companies and individuals earn from idle servers. Because providers bid against each other for every workload, prices are often well below the on-demand rates of Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. Akash publishes its own comparisons on akash.network; the live bids in Akash Console are the reference for any current price.

The network is governed by holders of its native AKT token, which makes it one of the first decentralized alternatives to the large centralized cloud market. Its mainnet launched in 2020. Since then, the marketplace has expanded from CPU workloads to GPU workloads, and the network publishes live usage statistics on its website.

IBC-Whakahohe

I hangaia i runga i te Cosmos SDK me te tautoko mō te Whakapāho-ā-whatunga (IBC). Ka taea e AKT me USDC te rere mā te kore ārai i waenganui i Akash me ētahi atu aho Cosmos pērā i Osmosis.

Motu Tuwhera

All Akash software, from the blockchain node to the provider daemon, is open source under the Apache 2.0 license. Anyone can audit it or contribute on GitHub.

Te Tohu AKT

AKT powers the Akash Network, from securing the chain to settling marketplace transactions.

Whakapūmautanga & Haumaru

Ka whakapūmaia te AKT e ngā kaiwhakamana me ngā kaiwhānaunga hei tiaki i te pūtirotiro pūtohu-ā-tau. Ka whiwhi ngā kaiwhakapūmauta i ngā utu poraka pikinga utu me tētahi wāhanga o ngā utu hokohoko.

  • Delegate to any validator in the active set
  • Wā whakakāhore 21-rā
  • Third-party tools such as REStake can auto-compound rewards

Reiti Tangohia & Whakapūtanga

A percentage of every lease payment (the take rate) goes to the community pool and to stakers. Deployments can be paid in AKT or in USDC; governance sets a lower take rate for AKT than for USDC. The current values are listed in the Akash documentation.

  • AKT payments: lower take rate, set by governance
  • USDC payments: higher take rate, set by governance
  • This gap favors paying in AKT over stablecoins

Me pēhea te whakatū i te Akash Network

He hāereere ā‑tahi‑tahi mā te Akash Console, te ara māmā rawa ki te tīmata i te kore ki te whakatūwhera.

1

Whiwhi AKT, USDC rānei

Buy AKT on a centralized exchange that lists it, or swap for it on a Cosmos DEX (decentralized exchange) such as Osmosis. You can also bring USDC over IBC. Send the tokens to a Cosmos wallet such as Keplr or Leap.

2

Whakatuwhera te Akash Console

Go to console.akash.network and connect your wallet. Akash Console is a web interface, so you do not need the command line.

3

Waihangahia tō kōnae SDL

Whakaahuahia tō tuku i te SDL (Reo Whakaaturanga Rārangi). Tautuhia te atahanga Docker, CPU, mahara, rokiroki, ngā tauranga ka whakaaetia, me ngā hiahia GPU kōwhiringa. Kei te pūrere he tauira mō ngā mahi auau pērā i ngā tūmau tukutuku, ngā pātengi raraunga, me ngā tauira AI.

4

Urua te Pūkete & Tukua

Deposit AKT or USDC into the deployment escrow. This creates your deployment order on-chain. Governance sets a minimum deposit, which Console shows before you confirm; a larger deposit keeps a workload running longer.

5

Tīpakohia tētahi Kaihoko

I roto i ngā hēkona, ka tono ngā kaiwhakarato ki tō mahi. Arotakehia ngā tono i runga i te utu, te hītori o te wā e wātea ana, me te wāhi. Whakaae ki te tono pai rawa hei hanga kirimana, ā, ka tīmata tō tuku i roto i ngā meneti.

Te Hokomaha GPU a Akash

Uru ki ngā GPU NVIDIA taumata pakihi mō AI, ako mīhini, me te whakaahua i ngā utu mārketi tuwhera.

Akash added GPU support to its marketplace in 2023, during the GPU shortage driven by AI demand. While large cloud providers had waitlists and premium prices for NVIDIA H100 and A100 cards, Akash opened a marketplace where GPU owners list their hardware and AI developers rent it at bid-based rates.

The GPU marketplace lists a range of NVIDIA hardware, from consumer RTX 4090 cards to data-center A100 and H100 cards. Providers set their own prices. Competition between them tends to keep costs below centralized on-demand rates, but the gap changes with supply and demand.

Common GPU workloads on Akash include fine-tuning open-source large language models (such as Llama and Mistral), running Stable Diffusion image generation, training computer vision models and serving AI inference endpoints.

Ngā Pātai Auau

He aha te Akash Network?
Akash Network is a decentralized cloud computing marketplace built with the Cosmos SDK. It connects people who need computing resources (tenants) with those who have spare capacity (providers) through a reverse auction. Providers compete on price, so workloads often cost less than on-demand rates at centralized clouds. Check live bids in Akash Console for current prices.
E hia te utu iti ake o Akash i te AWS?
It depends on the workload, the region and how many providers bid. Akash prices are set by provider competition rather than a fixed list price, so they change over time. The Akash website publishes its own comparisons with AWS, Google Cloud and Azure. The reliable method is to compare a live Akash bid with the on-demand price of the same instance at the centralized provider.
He aha te whakamahinga o te tohu AKT?
AKT is the native token of Akash Network. It is used for staking to secure the chain, for governance votes on protocol proposals, and for paying deployments. A share of every lease payment (the take rate) goes to the community pool and to stakers. Stakers therefore earn block rewards plus a share of marketplace fees.
Ka taea e au te whakarewa i ngā mahi AI me te ako mīhini i runga i te Akash?
Yes. Akash added GPU support to its marketplace in 2023. Tenants can rent NVIDIA GPUs (A100, H100, RTX 4090 and others, depending on what providers list) for training, inference and fine-tuning. Standard frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow run inside the container you deploy.
Me pēhea au e whakawhānui i te Akash Network?
The easiest route is Akash Console at console.akash.network. You describe your deployment in an SDL (Stack Definition Language) file, fund an escrow account with AKT or USDC, and providers bid on your workload through a reverse auction. You accept a bid, a lease is created, and your deployment goes live on the provider.
